Vilnius Airport operations temporarily disrupted on Saturday evening have been restored
- News
On Saturday, October 8, at 8:45 p.m., aircraft movements at Vilnius Airport were temporarily suspended due to airspace restrictions. According to initial information, the decision to impose these restrictions was caused by a balloon (or balloons) flying in the direction of Vilnius Airport. The airport resumed operations at 9:50 p.m., after the airspace restrictions were lifted.
Due to these temporary restrictions, four flights and approximately 600 passengers were affected. Two aircraft scheduled to land at Vilnius Airport were diverted to other airports: one to Kaunas Airport and the other to Riga Airport, while two flights were delayed. Additional minor delays may occur on October 8–9 due to disrupted crew and aircraft rotations.
Passengers whose flights were affected or canceled due to the restrictions are advised to contact their airlines directly for more detailed information. Flight updates are available on the Vilnius Airport website.
